The Laser Safety Committee is responsible for overseeing the safe use of lasers and x-ray units for
teaching and research. The committee ensures that the use of non-ionizing radiation complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Specific requirements are listed in the Laser Safety Handbook.
Members of the committee include the College’s radiation safety officer (the committee chair) and all members of the faculty and staff using lasers or x-ray emitters. The committee meets quarterly.
